Elon Musk has unveiled a flying Tesla Roadster at the SpaceX rocket test centre in Texas, featuring advanced fan suction technology capable of pulling up to 2Gs. The vehicle uses an ultra-high-pressure air tank system and can accelerate from zero to almost 100 kilometres per hour in less than a second, with production promised by 2028. The demonstration showcased the car driving upside down, performing barrel rolls, and launching from stationary positions. Tesla reveals their flying car! At an event in Texas they showed off the much delayed Tesla Roadster that has 10 SpaceX thrusters built in. It helps the car go 0-60 in .81 seconds and also allows it to fly off a ramp, upside down, flip over and land in their live demo. Goes into production in 2028. You’ve probably seen by now, that the new Tesla Roadster can fly. And flip. And drive upside down. But how does it do all that? Henry Catchpole met up with Lars Moravy, VP for Vehicle Engineering at Tesla, to talk through all the details of the long awaited new car and see how Optimus and SpaceX helped. Flying aside, a few things have changed since a new Roadster was teased by Elon Musk over a decade ago. For a start, it is now a two-seater, rather than a 2+2 and the styling, by Franz von Holzhausen, is much sleeker and more in-keeping with traditional supercar wedges. We particularly like the pop-down (not pop-up) headlights, but the moving body panels in general are not only clever but rather beautiful. There will be three versions of the Tesla Roadster, initially, all with over a megawatt (1341hp) and 1400NM (1033lb ft) from two motors driving the rear wheels alone. Yes, the Tesla Roadster is rear-wheel drive. The Performance model adds fans and skirts into the equation, much like the McMurtry Pure, enabling it to generate huge downforce at low speeds and significantly improve traction. The Thrust version then adds a quartet of Cold Gas Thrusters (CGTs) to the back of the car. These are fed from a 200-litre tank of compressed Nitrogen that sits behind the seats and help to deliver the Roadster to 60mph in just 0.85seconds. The Rocket version then adds another 400-litre tank in place of the passenger seat and six more thrusters - one in each corner and two at the sides. This is the version that can leave the ground and claims an astonishing 0-60mph of just 0.55 seconds (although that is a rollout figure). Tyre size, battery technology, robot actuators, the interior with its yoke and much more are all in the film as well. We hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think in the comments down below. Tesla unveiled a redesigned Roadster equipped with thrusters, developed in collaboration with CEO Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX, showing it driving upside down on a ramp using a suction system and turning in the air and landing using in-built thrusters.

Using SpaceX rocket technology, the sports car climbed a curved ramp and hurled itself to a controlled landing. ––– Subscribe to ABC News on YouTube: https://abcnews.visitlink.me/59aJ1G ABC News is your daily source of breaking national and world news, exclusive interviews and 24/7 live streaming coverage. https://abcnews.com Download the ABC News app for the latest headlines and alerts: https://abcnews.com/devices Connect with ABC News on social media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ABCNews Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abcnews TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@abcnews X: https://twitter.com/ABC Threads: https://www.threads.net/@abcnews WhatsApp: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VajTNakKWEKkXoAPIR11 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/abcnews
