Stranger Things S5 Finale Has So Many Plot Holes, It’s Unreal

I just finished watching the S5 finale, and I can’t stop thinking about how many things they completely ignored or handwaved. It’s like the Duffers were too scared to actually follow through with their own rules. Some of the major issues: 1. The Upside Down timeline is never explained - Why is it frozen on that specific date? If Vecna existed for decades, why does it only mirror Hawkins at one moment in time? 2. Creature origins make no sense - Demodogs couldn’t come from Dimension X because it’s way too hot. So where did they actually come from? Who created them, and did they even originate in the Upside Down? 3. The “stone” that infected Henry - the show never explains where the stone came from or how the scientist obtained it. It just exists to move the plot. 4. Government oversight ignored - The gang kills tons of soldiers and causes chaos in federal facilities, but somehow they walk away free. 5. Will controlling the demodogs in Vol. 1 - Let’s be real: this happened inside a monitored government site. There’s no way the footage wouldn’t be reviewed or flagged. Him influencing creatures should have made him a target, not just a traumatized kid. 6. No demodogs defending Vecna in the finale - In S5 finale, the gang attacks Vecna in the Upside Down. There are literally no demodogs defending him. They’ve been his army for seasons — how do you just forget them? It makes the final battle feel staged and weak. 7. Consequences of death/defeat - Max, Nancy and others “survive” in ways that undermine stakes. Even if eleven dies, the show never addresses that the government could just move on to other test subjects (like Will). Victory feels meaningless. Overall, the finale feels like it prioritized nostalgia and comfort over logic or consequence. It’s emotional and flashy, sure, but when you actually think about the rules of the Upside Down, the creatures, and government involvement, a lot of it just doesn’t hold up.
